Years 3/4 Quicksticks Match Report
Our first game was against Charing Tigers. We ended up winning 8-0. It was an easy game, but the worst was not behind us. In our second game we played Godinton Hawks. We beat them 6-0. It was a very successful game. Our third game was against Smeeth Panthers. We won 6-0 again. We were very happy since we had won all of our games so far. On our last game in our group we played Wittersham Flames. We beat them 8-0. We were all very glad to win all of our games in our group.

We had a break for a while because we needed lunch and rest so we had enough energy for the Championship. We were all very nervous because we knew that this round would be hard.
Our first game in the championship was against River. We won 4-1 and were delighted to win. We caught up massively since we were 1-0 down at the start. Our second game was against St.Mary’s Seahawks and we beat them 3-1.

We were all very surprised because we had won every single game we played so far even in the championships. We thought we were going to be thrashed, but we haven’t yet.
Our third game was against Smeeth Bears. They were a lot easier than we expected and we beat them 3-1.

On our last game we played Furley Park Blues. We beat them 6-1. Were over the moon because we had won! We got a massive trophy and we were all very proud of ourselves.
We would like to thank the parents, teachers and the organisers for the opportunity. We are looking forward to representing Ashford in the Kent School Games Finals.

Yr 5/6 Middle Schools Football Tournament Champions
The Mersham Primary School football team travelled to St. Theresa’s School for a football tournament. Our first match was against St. Simons, we beat them 1-0 and had a 1 match break to discuss our formation and subs. The second match was against Challock, unfortunately we had a 2-0 defeat, we had a team discussion and decided to have JS back in left-back and CY-C on the left-wing. The third game was against a team called John Wesley our score was a positive 2-1 victory.
After a two match rest, we went out to play St, Teresa’s team, after playing them last, we knew they were a good team, we played really well, but we conceded only 1 goal, to have a final score of 1-0 to Teresa’s. With no time to wait we went straight on to play East Stour, we played our best and won an amazing 4-0. We came on to play Victoria Road, we drew 0-0, we had lots of opportunities to score, but we couldn’t get a goal.
Our final match in the group, was Hamstreet, we conceded the first goal, but came back and scored a fortunate goal, to end the match 1-1 and go into the semi-final. We played the Challock team again, JY-C took all the team on and scored a goal in seconds, this time we scored and won 2-0. The final was tense and both teams were desperate to win. It was half-time and still 0-0. In the last minutes AP hit the ball on the volley and scored the crucial goal. We were so proud of how far we came and working together as years 5 and 6. This was a great experience to learn how each other play and work as a team.

Yr 6 Tournament Match Report

Despite cold weather, the hockey tournament that Mersham Primary School took part in was a great deal of fun and we should definitely be proud of what we achieved. The tournament was held at the Ashford Hockey Club, Kennington on Tuesday 25th March 2014. There were 30 teams representing their schools and they were from Year 5 and 6. Our 2 teams – Mersham Magnums (Year 5) and Mersham Masters (Year 6) played very well and we were happy and proud of our achievement. Year 5 came 3rd and Year 6 came 2nd. Mersham Masters played against Furley Park in the final and the game went into overtime, but unfortunately they beat us with a golden goal 1-0.

It was an all-day tournament and consequently we felt tired afterwards. We would like to thank Mrs Massie and Claudia for supporting us, coaching us, practising with us and helping to arrange an enjoyable day. We all had a fantastic time!
