Year 5/6 Volleyball Competition at The North – CHAMPIONS!

The new Mersham Volleyball Team marched to victory in their first tournament at The North School in December.

They were undefeated in every round until...

Nervously, the semi-final was against the very competitive Furley Park and it was a closely fought match. The ball kept on flying back and forth, the children where jumping up and down trying to hit the ball. However, Mersham pulled through to win the match 19-14, and face the undefeatable Tenterden in the final. As the tension stared to build the match began, but would Mersham beat Tenterden? This was an extremely tense match with the teams throwing points back and forth the whole way through, but after taking 4 powerful points in a row, Mersham took the title of Champions with a 15-12 win.

Come on Mersham!!

- 5th place out of 17 schools

The Athletics Team competed in the Sports hall event at The Stour Centre before Christmas. Events included running, a hard obstacle course and the triple jump (which is incredibly hard). Mersham finished a very respectable 5th place out of 17 schools. At least we tried are hardest and that’s all that matters!

Football Highs and Lows!

“The team rallied round and put in an amazing performance.”

Mersham took part in the football; there have been some mixed results in the matches we played. The season started very well for Mersham with consecutive wins against Smeeth and Brabourne. However by the middle of the season the team then lost its form and suffered losses against St Mary’s and Wye. We then faced what we thought would be our toughest match against reigning champions, Kennington. The Team rallied round and put in an amazing performance, but just couldn’t seem to hit the ball in the back of the net. The final score was 2-0 to Kennington, but was the best performance of the season so far for Mersham. Man of the match was Mersham’s left back Max Sayer who was very tactical and gifted whilst playing.
