Litter Angels – Damien Green MP

Hawking Class entered a competition to design a poster. The Ashford wide competition is run by Kent based anti-litter charity, Litter Angels, which was set up to educate children about the impact that litter has on our local environment. The charity is backed by McDonald’s and Keep Britain Tidy.

A special congratulations must go to Nina who was the overall competition winner. Her winning poster will be displayed in McDonald’s car parks across Ashford and both the school and Nina have won a cash prize.

We also won the school competition – our school’s finalists were judged to be the best! So well done to all three girls (Nina, Ellis and Poppy) whose certificates and prizes were presented by Damien Green MP.

World War One Centenary

Hawking Class and Miss Sexton designed and created a wonderful banner to be displayed at the Centenary memorial and beacon lighting on Sunday Evening at the Millennium Green. I am sure that you will agree it is absolutely stunning!

Churchill Class have also worked on a project examining some of our local heroes from World War One and World War Two. They put themselves in the shoes of these soldiers and wrote letters home examining their experiences. We are very proud to have marked such an important event in our history.

A very warm welcome to Mersham Primary School. Situated in a quiet, rural village close to Ashford, we enjoy beautiful views over the Kent countryside from our extensive school grounds and exceptional outdoor learning space. Becoming part of our school community is one of the most rewarding and important decisions you are likely to make. We aim to create an environment where the children are happy and excited about coming to school; where they will succeed; where the curriculum is broad, balanced and enriching and where standards are high. A real love of learning will be nurtured, building on the strengths of every child, whilst introducing new skills to prepare them for an ever changing world. Your child will be actively encouraged to take part in their learning and apply their skills in a range of contexts to develop a life-long love of learning and to take responsibility for it. We pride ourselves on our links with parents and the wider local community. We work closely with parents and carers to foster high expectations, initiative, challenge, self-discipline and self-confidence. I hope you will enjoy your visit to our website and please do get in touch if you would like any further information about our school. We are always happy to arrange guided tours at any point during the academic year. We look forward to welcoming you to our school! Cheryl Chalkley Headteacher
